Vivo X Fold 3 Pro confirmed to launch in India

Vivo is finally bringing its foldable phone to India. Previously, the smartphone company had limited its foldable devices to the global and China markets. However, Vivo has now confirmed the launch of the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro in India. The phone was previously launched in China, so the specifications are already known. The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is set to be one of the most powerful foldable devices, with a focus on the camera. Currently, the flagship foldable segment is dominated by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the OnePlus Open.

Although an exact launch date for the new phone hasn’t been confirmed, earlier reports suggested it could arrive sometime in June. If that’s accurate, we might be just days away from its release. The device recently showed up on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website and the Geek bench database, adding credibility to the rumors of its imminent launch.

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, which was introduced in March 2023, marks a departure from Vivo’s trend of launching foldable phones exclusively in China. Given that the phone was unveiled last year, its specifications might closely match the global variant. Numerous leaks and rumors have provided insights into the possible features of the device.

Reports indicate that the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro could be the first foldable phone to feature a Carbon Fiber Keel component in its hinge mechanism. This innovation ensures the phone is both lightweight and durable, able to withstand extensive use. Testing by TÔV Rhineland confirmed that the device can endure up to 500,000 folds, translating to roughly 12 years of reliable use.

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is expected to have dual displays: a 6.53-inch cover display and an 8.03-inch inner AMOLED LTPO folding display. Both screens are likely to support a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and features like Dolby Vision and HDR10+, with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits.

A recent teaser from Vivo highlighted the phone’s lightweight design, ZEISS optics for the camera system, and its weight of just 236 grams with a thickness of 11.2mm when folded, thanks to the 14.98-gram carbon fiber hinge.

Under the hood, the X Fold 3 Pro is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, paired with an Adreno GPU for superior graphics performance. The phone could offer up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS4.0 storage, ensuring smooth and efficient operation. It will run on Origin OS 4, based on Android 14.

For photography enthusiasts, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will feature a sophisticated camera setup, including a 50-megapixel ultra-sensing primary camera with OIS, a 64-megapixel 3x telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The front camera will be 32 megapixels. The phone is also expected to have a 5,700mAh battery.

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will be available through Flipkart, Vivo India’s online store, and offline retail channels. Priced at 9,999 yuan in China (around Rs 1.17 lakh), it could be priced under Rs 1.5 lakh in India.
